Alex AI alternatives: five options to compare.

Updated 5 October 2026

Teams look at Alex AI alternatives because of budget, interview format, languages or team size. This page lists five options, including AI Interview Agents, each described only from its own public site, so you can shortlist tools and then confirm the details with each vendor.

Why do teams look for an Alex AI alternative?

Alex AI describes an AI recruiter with interviews by phone, video, SMS and WhatsApp, plus scheduling, resume screening and verification features. Some teams want that full range. Others want something narrower, or want different terms.

  • Budget. Alex AI's site directs visitors to request a demo, and some teams want to see plans or start free first.
  • Format. Some teams want only a spoken first-round interview and a report.
  • Languages. Teams need to check that the languages they hire in are covered for the full interview.
  • Team size. Small teams and agencies often want a short setup.
  • Existing tools. Teams that already have scheduling or verification tools may not need those features.

These are questions to settle, not criticisms. For a direct comparison, see AI Interview Agents vs Alex AI.

What does each option fit best?

HireVue fits programmes that want interviews, video and assessments together, as its site describes. See AI Interview Agents vs HireVue.

HeyMilo and Ribbon both describe AI voice interviews. HeyMilo lists several channels and 20+ languages. Ribbon lists public plans. See AI Interview Agents vs HeyMilo and AI Interview Agents vs Ribbon.

Metaview fits teams whose interviews are run by people and who want notes and scorecards, and it also lists a screening agent. See AI Interview Agents vs Metaview.

How should you choose?

Define the job first, then narrow by language, channel and price. Our guide to comparing AI interview vendors has a longer checklist, and you can book a demo to see an AIIA interview and report.

  1. List the roles, hiring volume and candidate languages.
  2. Decide which channels candidates will use: browser, phone call, WhatsApp or text.
  3. Ask each vendor for a sample report and a trial, and note what is included.
  4. Check what you pay for: seats, interviews or volume.
  5. Pilot one real role with two vendors and compare the results with your hiring team.

What should you check in a pilot?

A pilot on one real role tells you more than any feature list. Pick a role with enough applicants to matter, and run the same job description through each tool you shortlist. Then read the outputs side by side with the people who will use them.

  • Read three full reports and check whether each score is explained by something the candidate actually said.
  • Ask a colleague to take the interview as a candidate, on a phone and on a laptop, and note any friction.
  • Check how invitations reach candidates, and whether reminders and rescheduling are handled.
  • Confirm who can see recordings and transcripts, and how long they are kept.
  • Ask what the tool does when a candidate speaks in a language or accent it handles less well.

Keep a person in charge of every hiring decision. Scores and reports are inputs for the hiring team, whichever tool you pick.
