AI Interview Agents vs HireVue: what is different.
Updated 5 October 2026
HireVue describes itself as an AI hiring platform with an AI Interviewer, on-demand and live video interviewing, and skills assessments. AI Interview Agents focuses on one job: a spoken, two-way first-round interview with a scored report, in English, Hindi or Arabic. The right choice depends on whether you want a broad platform or a focused first-round interviewer.
What does each product do?
HireVue describes its product as AI hiring technology to reveal proven skills and capabilities. According to its site, the platform includes Match and Apply (chat-based candidate routing), an AI Interviewer for screening, assessments and an assessment builder, and video interviewing. Its video page says it offers on-demand and live video interviews, so candidates can respond on their own time or connect live from any device. Its AI Interviewer page describes a two-way conversation that includes probing follow-up questions, with scores that recruiters can view in their ATS.
AI Interview Agents (AIIA) runs two-way spoken first-round interviews in the candidate's browser, with no app install. The employer sets the job title, job description and the areas to cover, and the questions are built from that. The interviewer listens and asks follow-up questions based on what the candidate said. Interviews can run in English, Hindi or Arabic. For each candidate the hiring team gets a transcript, an interview report with scores and written reasoning tied to what the candidate said, and a recording when one is available. A person on the hiring team makes every hiring decision.

When is HireVue the better choice?
HireVue is the better choice when you want more than a first-round interview from one vendor. Its site describes four assessment types (game-based, language, virtual job tryout and coding), an assessment builder, on-demand and live video interviewing, and chat-based candidate routing. If your hiring is large and structured, and you want skills assessments to sit beside interviews, that range is the reason to look at it. Its site also lists English, Spanish, French and Portuguese for the AI Interviewer, which matters if those are your candidates' languages. If you already work through enterprise software buying, a demo-led process may not be a barrier for you.
When is AI Interview Agents the better choice?
AIIA is the better choice when you want a spoken, two-way first-round interview that adapts to what each candidate says, in English, Hindi or Arabic. Candidates join from a link sent by email or WhatsApp and do not install anything. You can start on the free plan, paid plans are quoted by hiring volume, there are no per-seat fees, and candidates never need a licence. Small teams and agencies can start without a procurement process. If you do not need assessments or a live video product, a focused interviewer and report can be simpler to roll out.
How should you decide?
