How to build an interview kit from a job description

A job description lists what a person may need to do. An interview kit helps the interviewer decide what to ask and what evidence to listen for. AIIA's free interview-kit generator creates an editable draft from the description, with questions and a scorecard for review by the hiring team.

Check the description before generating a kit

Paste the job description and select the interview duration. Add seniority or competencies to emphasise only when these are known. Remove personal or confidential details that are unnecessary for the draft. The current input limits and free allowance appear beside the form.

A title alone does not establish the scope of a role. A delivery executive may be responsible for deliveries rather than executive leadership. If the description gives conflicting responsibilities or no clear level, the kit should identify what needs clarification. Resolve those points with the hiring manager before using the questions.

Connect every question to evidence

The draft names job-relevant competencies and explains what each question is intended to establish. A follow-up lets the interviewer ask for a decision, an example or an explanation that was missing from the first answer. Review the wording so candidates can understand it without knowing your company's internal terminology.

A synthetic example

For a fictional support role that requires investigating unresolved tickets, a question could ask how the candidate would investigate a repeated complaint. Useful evidence includes how they establish the facts and decide what to do next. A vague answer does not supply the same evidence as an explanation of a specific investigation.

Keep the interview within its time limit

The outline allocates minutes to each section within your selected duration. Check that the questions you choose can be covered in that time, including follow-ups. If you add a new section while editing, reduce time elsewhere or choose a longer interview. A generated schedule is a plan, not a timer controlling the conversation.

Use the scorecard as a recording aid

Rating guidance should describe observable evidence. Record the example or reasoning behind a rating. Use the separate insufficient-evidence state when the question was not covered or the answer did not establish enough to rate. Missing evidence must not silently become the lowest rating.

The draft does not infer protected traits, emotion, personality or culture fit. It does not decide who should be hired or rejected. The hiring team is responsible for reviewing whether the questions and ratings are appropriate for the role. The kit is not a validated assessment instrument.

Review before saving anything to AIIA

Edit the draft and copy or download the version you intend to use. The AIIA link opens the existing recruiter workflow. Normal authentication and an explicit save are required before a role is created. Generating an anonymous kit does not create a role or save data into another person's account.

The submitted description is processed with AIIA's model provider. The tool does not save the description or private kit as a report by default. Reset clears the page's local inputs and result. Provider retention depends on its policies and configuration.
