An AI interview invitation must explain the format plainly. Tell the candidate that the first round is a spoken interview with an AI interviewer in their browser, that nothing needs to be installed, how long it takes, how to prepare, and that a person on the hiring team reviews the result and decides.
What should this message include?
Candidates are often unsure what an AI interview is. A clear message lowers anxiety and reduces drop off. If you use an AI interviewer, this text can go out with the interview link.
- That the first round is a two way spoken conversation with an AI interviewer, held in the browser with no app to install.
- What to prepare: a quiet place, a working microphone and a stable connection.
- How long it will take, stated by you as [Duration].
- That a person on the hiring team reviews the interview and makes the decision.
- Who to contact for an adjustment or a different format.

What should you change before sending?
- The duration: state the real length that you have set for the role.
- The deadline: give candidates a few days, not hours, so they can find a quiet moment.
- The contact: name a real person who can arrange adjustments or a human led alternative.
- The language: say which language the interview is in if your team has chosen English, Hindi or Arabic.
Mistakes to avoid
- Hiding the fact that the interviewer is AI. Say it in the first lines.
- Implying that the AI decides. A person on the hiring team makes every decision.
- Offering no alternative for candidates who cannot use a microphone.
